SAPICS announces new directors and a new president and welcomes back some familiar faces!!

As all members will know, the Annual General Meeting took place on 12th May 2011.  We are very grateful to all members who attended.

 

Welcome to the New President of SAPICS

Liezl-SmithLiezl Smith CIRM, CPIM, CSCP was elected as new President of SAPICS.  Liezl has been a director of SAPICS for several years and an ardent volunteer and proponent of the APICS Body of Knowledge.  Liezl is an Industrial Engineering graduate with a passion for Supply Chain and Operations Management, both from a process and an education point of view. She has worked in many different industries where she has seen many different scenarios and gained experience finding optimal supply chain solutions. Liezl owns her own business and is currently a specialist consultant and training provider. Liezl is also a judge for the logistics achiever awards.

SAPICS is grateful to outgoing President, Reuben Badana CFPIM, CSCP for the work done by him during his 2 year tenure as President of the association.  As a director of SAPICS and long time volunteer we are confident that Reuben’s passion for the profession will continue to benefit SAPICS on an ongoing basis.

 

SAPICS is delighted to welcome the following new directors to the Board:

Meshern-GovenderMeshern Govender is the Chief Procurement Officer at Standard Bank and is a director of the South African Supplier Diversity Council.   Meshern’s contribution lies in elevating the inherent strategic nature of Operations Management at an industry level such that the relevant operations functions (i.e. supply chain management, logistics etc) evolve from being considered as back office, transaction led functions to being recognised as value based management systems capable of delivering sustained value to both an organisation and an industry.

terry-0-donoghueTerry O’Donoghue CSCP retired as a Director of Toyota SA (Pty) Ltd at the end of 2010.  Having spent the majority of his career committed to the education and development of his staff Terry is passionate about the development of individuals and believes in the importance of the development of a body of knowledge in the profession.  Terry is a Certified Supply Chain Professional and he believes that he can add value by assisting the organisation to continue the valuable work being done in the development of the profession.  As a long-time member of SAPICS Terry is enthusiastic that retirement will afford him the opportunity to be involved in SAPICS at a strategic level.

 

Tracy Cheetham and Cobus Rossouw are also warmly welcomed back to the Board.

Tracy-CheethamTracy Cheetham CPIM, CSCP is a past president and life member of SAPICS.  Tracy’s involvement with APICS as Director of International Services has provided Tracy with significant insight into the global supply chain and operations management profession, experience that she is keen to share with SAPICS.  Tracy has an unshakeable commitment to the developing knowledge and skills in the area of operations and supply chain management in Africa.

Cobus-RossouwCobus Rossouw CSCP has been a Director of SAPICS for 6 years and Chairman of the EXCO for 3 years.  In these roles, he has made a significant contribution to the improved professionalism of SAPICS.  Cobus is committed to continue his contribution towards the Association and Profession in general, specifically focusing on the delivery of value-adding services to the entire community.

 

Meshern, Terry, Tracy and Cobus will join existing Directors, Liezl Smith CIRM, CPIM, CSCP, Ken Titmuss CFPIM, CSCP, Colin Seftel CFPIM, CSCP and Reuben Badana CFPIM, CSCP
