Rob started his work working life as a metallurgist and materials engineer from Wits building Rooivalk helicopter prototypes at Denel Aviation. During his time there he became interested in operations management and completed a GDE in Industrial Engineering at Wits. Realising that the military aircraft industry was not exactly booming in South Africa in the 90's he left to do an MBA at the Graduate School of Business at UCT.
Joining SAB after business school Rob started working in the supply chain field having great fun doing network optimisation proposals for the SAB Coca-Cola investments in ABI. In fact that was so interesting to Rob that he moved across from SAB to ABI to develop the supply chain planning function which he then spent 5 years doing. This was highly fulfilling as the team literally built the capability from the ground up with each year bringing new capabilities on board while coping with the ever increasing complexities and demands of the transforming soft drinks industry in South Africa. Rob's last two years in corporate were in a new role moving out of being soft drinks planning manager and taking on a supply chain development role for both beer and soft drinks where he looked after the CO2 risk mitigation projects and projects aimed at the business process optimisation across the SAB supply chain.
Rob has now started his own organisation focusing on small to medium sized companies to service that market with a combination of supply chain consulting and business coaching. Rob believes that there is great potential for business success in South Africa and that many organisations collapse at the point where they are about to become successful because they lack the support they require to deal with sudden growth.
