SAPICS has submitted various unit standards to merSETA within the body of knowledge of Operations Management. Based on the unit standards submitted SAPICS hopes to be able to offer qualifications in both the NQF level 3 and 4 bands.
Although our aim was to have these qualifications accredited and ready by April/May 2010 it is regrettable that this target date could not be met. This is primarily due to the complexity of the subject.
We however continue working to ensure that these accredited qualifications will be available from August 2010.
We are also in the process of registering an NQF Level 5 qualification. Materials are currently being developed to support this proposed qualification.
In time it is hoped we will be able to provide individuals who have completed the SAPICS Diploma in Production and Inventory Management with recognition of prior learning (RPL) and offer them recognition against the Certificate in Operations NQF 5.
SAPICS has created a focused development team which has, for the past 18 months, been working on all accredited related issues.
The following has been achieved to date:
In time we will be able to provide individuals who have completed the SAPICS Diploma in Production and Inventory Management with recognition of prior learning (RPL) and offer them recognition against the Certificate in Operations NQF 5.
CSCP, CPIM
Due to the structure of these qualifications it is not currently possible to align them to the framework it is possible to have them recognized by SAQA at an NQF level which is something that forms part of our longer term planning.
These certifications are internationally accredited with over 93 000 CPIMs globally and 6500 (since its inception in 2005) CSCPs globally.
Please remember that as an accredited education provider with MERSETA, all courses attended which are offered by SAPICS or a SAPICS Authorised Education Provider will enable your organization to claim back in your annual mandatory grant application from your SETA.
