The recent SAPICS Golf Day, which was hosted by The Professional Body for Supply Chain Management at Glen Vista Golf Course in Johannesburg South, gave the supply chain community an opportunity to enjoy great golf, network and raise funds for the Tumelo Home for mentally and physically disabled children.
“Our annual golf day has become a much-anticipated fixture on the profession’s calendar,” comments SAPICS president Kea Mpane.
Tumelo Home, this year’s beneficiary, is located in Ivory Park Ext 5 in Midrand. Established in 1996, it is a non-profit organisation that provides residential and day care for mentally and physically disabled children. The centre currently accommodates 32 children, most of whom are orphans or have been abandoned or abused.
“As a not for profit company, SAPICS understands the challenges associated with generating funds for day-to-day operations while developing and contributing to the supply chain management profession. We are honoured to be able to help Tumelo Home to continue its important work. The word Tumelo means ‘faith’. Thank you to all our sponsors and players who made the SAPICS Golf Day possible and who helped to reinforce these vulnerable children’s faith in the kindness of others and their hope for a brighter future,” Mpane concludes.
The Goscor Cleaning Equipment team took top honours at the 2019 SAPICS Golf Day, with Vodacom and SYSPRO Global following in second and third place. Their prizes were generously sponsored by Imperial Logistics, SYSPRO Global and SAPICS. The generous hole sponsors this year were Abland, Acrow, Eazi Access, Goscor, Jungheinrich, SA Media Holdings and SYSPRO.
