Supply chain industry body SAPICS has announced that it will host the 2025 SAPICS Young Professional and Student Conference on 28 February 2025, from 9am to 1pm. Sponsored by DP World, this year’s event will take place at the University of Johannesburg for their Supply Chain Management students and online.

Supply chain industry body SAPICS has announced Thato Moloi as its new president.

Moloi, who has served on the SAPICS board of directors for almost three years, takes over from outgoing president MJ Schoemaker.

The e-commerce boom that was fuelled by Covid-19 is showing no signs of slowing. It is predicted that in 2025, e-commerce transactions in South Africa will grow 150% to R225 billion.

Supply chain industry body SAPICS has reinforced its commitment to developing South African youth by rolling out new initiatives and partnerships aimed at upskilling and empowering young graduates and professionals for career success, addressing the skills gap in the supply chain field and fighting the country’s high youth unemployment rate.

The success of small businesses - which are the backbone of South Africa’s economy - is being jeopardised by a lack of resources, skills and support in the critical area of supply chain management, according to supply chain industry body SAPICS.

The annual SAPICS Conference, Africa’s leading event for the supply chain profession, will be held from 8 to 11 June 2025 in Cape Town under the theme “Innovation in Motion”, supply chain industry body SAPICS has announced.
